On-Line E-Commerce Demo
We currently use Perl/HTML to do our e-commerce packages. However we have found that it's real restrictive and have also tried a variety of canned shopping carts which have led us to the conclusion that since we have so much that we want to offer our clients the best software is home-grown. So alas, we are in the development stages of producing the ultimate software for mid-sized and small e-commerce shopping carts, which will be done using XHTML and PHP3 with a server side MySQL database.
One of the main considerations for the new software was because PHP was developed for the web, which in turn processes faster than Perl. Perl was actually designed as a report language. We are also creating a windows program in Visual Basic/Access to allow you, the client/user to maintain your own products, process orders and report on your sales.
The new software AND DEMO should be available sometime in June/July of 2002.
At this moment in time you are welcome to go visit a couple of our current customers that has our Perl shopping cart. They'd love visitors and are open to questions pertaining their websites.
